Here is the introduction to Mario Party:

Everyone (Mario, Luigi, DK, Wario, Peach, and Yoshi) are standing around Toad in a barren spot in a field. They are all talking at once, apparently in an argument.
It's mario and his good friends... but it looks like something is wrong.
What could it possibly be?
They're talking about who among them is the biggest star, the Super Star.
"A Super Star must be strong," says Wario.
He waves his arms above his head showing off to Luigi who is between him and DK.
Donkey Kong's got bragging rights for strength!
DK shows off his muscles. Wario  nudges Luigi, asking him to take sides, while DK nudges him at the right. Luigi frowns not saying anything.
Or perhaps Mario would make the biggest superstar.
Peach and Yoshi who are standing at the left and right of Mario turn their heads toward him. Mario straightens up and puts his hands on his hips proudly.
Or maybe the princess, Peach.
Peach folds her hands in front of her, flattered. Yoshi makes a gesture that seems to say, what about me?
But wait! We can't forget Yoshi with all his energy.
Why they're all arguing, each one claiming to be the Super Star.
Everyone crowds in around Toad each arguing to be the best and demanding that he decide.
"Wait a second!" shouts Toad. "Then let's see what it takes to become a Superstar."
"Does it only take strength to be a Super Star?"
Luigi shakes his head. DK and Wario are still arguing.
"In order to be a superstar, it takes courage" Toad continues, looking at Mario.
Mario nods in agreement.
"And wisdom, and..."
Peach takes a small step forward. Yoshi looks around seeing that he is being ignored.
"...Kindness"
Yoshi nods vigorously.
"If all of you want to be a Super Star, then I have an idea."
"Why not use the warp pipe in Mushroom Village, and head out into adventure?"
"The person who comes out of the adventures on top is the superstar."
"But..."
Toad turns around with his hands folded behind his back.
"There's no telling what kind of danger might await you."
"Do you want to head out into adventure?"
Luigi steps forward and volunteers. Everyone turns to stare at him. Wario steps forward and gives him a little push at the side. He races ahead and everyone follows. They all make a mad dash for the pipe.
