Mario Kart 64 is much like Super Mario Kart but with more weapons and better graphics. The courses are longer and harder. You can play by yourself in time trial or grand prix mode. Time trial is just what it sounds like. In time trial you race alone and your best times are recorded. In Grand Prix mode you race against 7 other computer players.

You can use green shells, red shells, mushrooms, and all sorts of goodies to cheat, i mean help your chances of winning. The other players have their arsenal of goodies to. There are 3 modes to race in 50cc, 100cc, and 150cc. They are engines and in the higher cc's the karts go faster and the competition gets more fierce.

In the multiplayer modes you play with a friend in battle mode, grand prix mode or versus mode. The grand prix mode is the same as the one in singular player. In the versus mode you and your friend(s) race in the course you select. In the battle mode you try to pop each others' balloons.

I like this game and it is a fun way to pass the time with friends. If you are a racing beginner this will take some time getting use to.
