Fun Yoshi Facts
- Yoshi once dreamed about becoming "Yoshizilla" in Nintendo's Smash Brother's Web Site.
- Shigeru Miyamoto created Mario and Yoshi and helped to create Pokemon. Yoshi is much like a Pokemon, but more of a "Classic" and not considered a "fad."
- A fun fact misconception has been declared. According to the end credits in Super Smash Bros. (in one-player mode), Shigeru Miyamoto DID NOT create Yoshi. Shigefumi Hino, the Nintendo graphics designer who updated the graphics in Super Mario All-Stars, created Yoshi. When press the A button on the names of Shigeru Miyamoto and Shigefumi Hino on the SSB credits, the text display on the upper right corner of the credits screen will state this. Hino also designed graphics in Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island. (Thanks to Richard)

- Tetris Attack, released in 1996, was originally a Japanese game called Paneru de Pon (usually Panel de Pon). It was released one year later in Japan as Yoshi's Panepon over the Bandai Satellaview-X. It was created similarly by the way Super Mario Bros. 2 (aka Super Mario USA) was created. Paneru de Pon appears to be, at first look, a so-called "girl game" because of the fairies and flowers, but behind the very sweet façade lies an action puzzle game. Yoshi was a fairy called Lip; don't let that fool you. Lakitu was a fairy called Wendy. Poochi was a fairy called Thiana. The Flying Wiggler was a fairy called Ruby. Ribbit was a fairy called Elias. Raphael the Raven was a fairy called Seren. Hookbill Koopa was Phoenix. The Pirahna Plant was a dragon. Kamek was Sanatos. And Bowser was Corderia. Paneru de Pon's password system is inferior to Tetris Attack's password system. Therefore, passwords are not interchangeable between Paneru de Pon and Tetris Attack. Tetris Attack gives the opportunity for passwords in Stage Clear, Puzzle, and Vs. modes. Paneru de Pon does not give the opportunity for passwords in Vs. mode. All music from Paneru de Pon, except Lip's Theme, the original Game Over theme, and Corderia's theme, was used in Tetris Attack. Nintendo did not intend to make a Yoshi game out of Paneru de Pon, but rather a member of the Tetris family. Tetris Attack has been ripped off by PokŽmon Puzzle League, and Yoshi was replaced with Ash Ketchum. For more information, see http://www.classicgaming.com/tmk/ta_pdp.shtml.
